About this product
Silicone remains the first-line non-invasive therapy for hypertrophic and keloid scarring. MediSil provides both formats: a soft adhesive silicone tape for linear scars over flat or lightly curved anatomy, and a self-drying gel for irregular, mobile or facial areas where tape is impractical.
Both work by occluding the scar and normalising hydration of the stratum corneum, which moderates fibroblast activity and collagen deposition. Used consistently, they soften and flatten raised scars and reduce redness and itch.
Therapy can begin as soon as the wound is fully closed and is generally continued for several months, making patient comfort and ease of use as important as the silicone itself.

Technical
Important technical information
- Do not apply to open wounds, broken skin or fresh sutures — the wound must be fully closed.
- Clean and dry the scar before each application; residual moisturiser prevents tape adhesion.
- Build wear time gradually over the first days to check skin tolerance.
- Gel must be allowed to dry fully before dressing or applying cosmetics.
- Consistency matters more than intensity: daily use over months delivers the outcome.
