Efferon NEO

Paediatric cytokine adsorption for hyperinflammation

A paediatric blood purification cartridge designed exclusively for children, targeting the broad cytokine cascade seen in hyperinflammatory states.

  • Exclusively for paediatric patients
  • Low-volume design for paediatric circuits
  • Single-use, sterile cartridge

Overview

About this product

Efferon NEO is specifically designed and approved for paediatric patients. It is not an adult cartridge. Its compact format and low extracorporeal volume support blood purification in children whose deterioration is driven by a generalised inflammatory mediator load.

Its sorbent adsorbs a broad band of cytokines and other mid-molecular-weight molecules implicated in paediatric cytokine storm, hyperinflammatory syndromes and post-cardiotomy inflammatory response.

The cartridge is used in a paediatric extracorporeal circuit and may be run in series with continuous renal replacement therapy, allowing a single circuit to provide both solute clearance and mediator adsorption. Treatment must follow the paediatric instructions for use and local specialist protocol.

Features

Key features and benefits

Broad cytokine adsorption

Captures a wide band of mid-molecular-weight inflammatory mediators rather than a single target.

CRRT-compatible

Can be placed in series with paediatric renal replacement therapy to combine solute clearance and mediator removal.

Stable haemodynamics

Adsorption avoids the large fluid shifts associated with high-volume exchange techniques.

Paediatric circuit design

A compact cartridge format supports the low extracorporeal volumes required for children.

Clinical use

Applications and indications

  • Paediatric hyperinflammatory shock

Children with escalating vasopressor requirement and markedly raised inflammatory markers.

  • Paediatric post-cardiotomy inflammation

Systemic inflammatory response in children following cardiopulmonary bypass.

  • Other paediatric hyperinflammatory states

Selected non-infective hyperinflammatory conditions in children under specialist direction.

  • Paediatric cytokine storm
  • Paediatric hyperinflammation
  • Paediatric multi-organ dysfunction

Technical

Important technical information

  • Efferon NEO is for paediatric patients only and must not be presented or used as an adult cartridge.
  • Follow the specified priming protocol; incomplete priming can trap air in the sorbent bed.
  • When run in series with CRRT, confirm circuit pressure limits before starting therapy.
  • Monitor for adsorption of therapeutic drugs such as antimicrobials and adjust dosing with pharmacy input.
  • Track platelet count and circuit pressures throughout the session.
  • Single use only; replace the cartridge at the interval specified in the instructions for use.
