About this product

Efferon LPS is a single-use haemoperfusion cartridge for extracorporeal blood purification. Its sorbent is engineered with ligands that bind lipopolysaccharide — the endotoxin released by Gram-negative bacteria and the trigger for the inflammatory cascade that drives septic shock — while the porous matrix also captures mid-molecular-weight inflammatory mediators.

The cartridge is placed in a standard blood perfusion circuit driven by a haemoperfusion or CRRT platform. Because the device works by adsorption rather than filtration, it removes target molecules without significant fluid or electrolyte shifts, and can be run alongside continuous renal replacement therapy where kidney support is also required.

Published clinical experience with the cartridge reports faster resolution of septic shock, earlier weaning from vasopressors and mechanical ventilation, and shorter ICU stay compared with standard care in selected patients.

Important technical information

  • Prime the cartridge per the instructions for use before connecting the patient — priming volume and flush sequence matter for sorbent performance.
  • Blood flow rate is set within the range specified in the instructions for use; excessive flow reduces contact time.
  • Monitor platelet count, fibrinogen and circuit pressures during therapy.
  • Therapy is most effective when started early in the shock trajectory rather than as rescue.
  • The cartridge is single use — do not attempt to re-prime or reuse after disconnection.
